If you’ve read a few things here and there, this post will be regurgitated and somewhat boring.
A certain type of person, the young woman especially, has come to associate a degree with being smart. The more advanced your degree, the smarter you are. A piece of paper validating your smartness. Intelligent people know this attitude is bullshit.
But why is this attitude so prevalent? Because we’ve had an entire generation, maybe two, of brainwashing and indoctrination. “Smart kids go to college. Dumb kids go to technical school.”
While the above phrase might’ve been true at some point - because of 3 decades of indoctrination, I’d say it’s flipped nowadays. Being smart, according to google’s AI, means capacity to think and understand quickly and make sound judgments effectively.
Unless there’s a specific goal which a college education can help further, college is an incredibly dumb decision. I think you’d be hard pressed to make the argument that a lifetime of crippling debt equates to a smart decision (generalizing).
The truth is that colleges have become mills - just the next step in education, for people who are too scared to actually go do something. Highly structured regurgitation of information that has been sanitized and approved by the intelligentsia - which means that a young person coming out of college has had 16 years of learning how to be an excellent parrot, with their egos intertwined with their perception.
And none of this really matters - except that it sets women up for failure in the things that matter - life, as shown in the picture below. Thinking a degree equates smartness is probably the dumbest thing a smart person can think. In fact, all a degree means today is that a person is good at doing what they’re told.
So what’s the solution? My suggestion would be to filter for character and personality. Look for the people who understand broad scale, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th order, implications, and who can accomplish their goals, whatever they may be, in the context within which they exist. The best strippers are very good at this - ditto for OnlyFans creators.
inb4, people without degrees are really the smart ones. nope. most of those guys are also dumb, lazy, and unmotivated with nothing to show for it to boot, not even a dumb piece of paper.
I always say reading makes you smarter like working out makes you taller
When I went to uni, I noticed and was a bit taken aback by that many people who are intelligent in the sense that they can learn difficult things, are often surprisingly stupid. Never mind the idiots who do fake subjects - these people were doing hard subjects like maths and chemistry, but their mental and intellectual flexibility was that of single purpose scripts. This got me to view being smart as the ability to use the intelligence you have in an effective manner, both in specific applications _and_ broadly. Most of those people were _not_ smart.
